Deep Impact filly takes out G1 French Oaks

The Sire of Novara Park's Staphanos the late Deep Impact (Sunday Silence) sired his 47th individual Group One winner when Fancy Blue (3 f ex Chenchikova by Sadler's Wells) took out the Prix de Diane (Gr 1, 2100m) at Chantilly yesterday. Bringing up the first Group 1 win as a trainer for Donnacha O’Brien, the son of Aidan O’Brien, Fancy Blue fought gamely to win by a short-neck with Coronation Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) victor Alpine Star (Sea The Moon) in second and Irish 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) winner Peaceful (Galileo) a further head away in third.
