Jakkalberry relative shows staying power

Chasedown (3c Nathaniel-Whipcla) won the Premio Roma Vecchia (Listed, 2800m) in Rome yesterday to provide Nathaniel (Galileo) with his fifth stakes winner. The colt, who was fourth in the St Leger Italiano (Gr 3, 2800m) at his last start, beat Shamshad (Sea The Stars) by a neck under Dario Vargiu, with a break of nine lengths back to Menuhin (Mujahid) in a distant third.
Chasedown’s dam Whipcla is a half-sister to Jakkalberry’s dam Claba Di San Jore.
