Japan’s late breed-shaping stallion Deep Impact (Sunday Silence) was handed his 140th stakes winner yesterday after Fancy Blue (2 f ex Chenchikova by Sadler's Wells) kept her unbeaten record in tact with victory in the Staffordstown Stud Stakes (Listed, 1600m) at the Curragh. Handing Aidan O’Brien a quickfire stakes-race double, the filly came from well off the pace to collar A New Dawn (Zoffany) close home, with a head the separating the pair as they crossed the line. Auxilia (Free Eagle) was another half-length behind in third.
