Red Genesis (3 c ex Ryzhkina by Storm Cat) led home a Yasuo Tomomichi-trained one-two in the Kyoto Shimbun Hai (Gr 3, 2200m), another trial for the Tokyo Yushun, at Chukyo yesterday and became the 174th individual stakes winner for the late Deep Impact (Sunday Silence). The three-year-old broke his maiden at his fourth start last year and won on his first start at a distance beyond 2000 metres second-up last month. His tally now stands at three wins from seven starts. Held up under Yuga Kawada, Red Genesis came wide in the straight to run down stablemate Lupercalia (Maurice) and win cosily by three-quarters of a length with the same distance back to Machaon D'Or (Gold Ship) in third. Red Genesis is out of the unraced Ryzhkina (Storm Cat) and his second dam Lucky (Sadler’s Wells) was a Group 3 winner in Ireland and is a sister to Irish Champion, Classic winner and sire King Of Kings.
