Japan has claimed a second Caulfield Cup victory in five years with Mer De Glace overcoming a slow start to win in the $5 million race. Like Admire Rakti who won for Tomoyuki Umeda in 2014, Mer De Glace settled back in the field before circling his rivals to score a soft win.
The Japanese victory was all the more impressive as Mer De Glace who drew one from the outside barrier circled the field and covered far more ground than any horse in the field- 2451m.
Staphanos- raced in the same colours as Caulfield Cup winner Mer De Glacé and brings you the same top level Japanese ability. Staphanos was one of the top ranked Japanese racehorses over an incredible four consecutive years.
