An overwhelming turn of foot has carried Pin Sec to a stunning victory in Sunday’s G3 Black Opal Stakes in Canberra and put her in line for a start in the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes.
In a triumph for herself and her sire Lonhro, Pin Sec was having her first start since winning a 2YO Maiden at Randwick in late December.
But her lack of recent racing proved no barrier as she steamed home to score by an ever-increasing four lengths from Rome with McLaren in third place.
Pin Sec becomes Lonhro’s 82nd Stakes winner and one of 36 individual worldwide winners of 47 races for the year for a sire who maintains a 72 per cent winners-to-runners record.
Lonhro also sired the 2018 Black Opal winner Encryption.
Novara Park's Sweynesse is the only son of Champion sire Lonhro at stud in New Zealand.
